The Library Foundation is committed to building a broad base of support for the Austin Public Library. The Foundation works to increase awareness about the Library and its importance to the community and raises funds through individual donations, corporate sponsorships and foundation grants. Funds are used to provide programs, equipment and collections at the Austin Public Library.

The Austin History Center Association is devoted to providing support to the Austin History Center, the local history collection and archives for the City of Austin. They raise funds that help the Austin History Center fulfill its mission to procure, preserve, present and provide the historical records that make up Austin’s unique story.

Interested in getting involved in the operation of the City of Austin? The Library Commission enables citizens to participate in Austin's government processes relating to the Library. The commission meets once a month and makes recommendations to the City Council on matters relating to the establishment, maintenance and operation of the public libraries. (Section 2-1-150 of the City Code.)

You may make a financial donation using the Library's Donation Form or by donating in person at any Library location. The Donation Form allows you to designate how your donation will be spent. Donations may be made in any amount.

Have you noticed that your monthly Austin Energy bill invites you to fill in a donation amount for Parks and Libraries? These donated funds support Austin Parks and the Austin Public Library. The Library uses the donated funds to add eBooks, eMagazines, streaming video and downloadable music to the collection. Every dollar expands the Digital Resources for everyone in the community.

The Austin Public Library accepts donations of all books, no matter their condition, for sale at the Library Used Book Store.
The APL Shop sells Austin Public Library branded merchandise, book themed products, and unique, locally sourced gifts. All proceeds benefit Austin Public Library.
